The Amazing Life & Times of Bob Craypoe-Part II

Bob spent the greater part of his high school career partying, meeting girls at parties and playing his guitar at parties. In other words, he liked to party. However, between parties, Bob managed to find time to practice playing guitar. His first musical influences included: Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Jim Croce, Blackfoot, Blue Oyster Cult, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, and Kiss.

One day, while flipping through the channels on the TV, he happened to stumble across a flamenco guitarist playing. And boy was that guy good! Bob was inspired and immediately practiced some of the techniques he just saw on TV. So a large part of his technique is the result of chance, fate, or the will of God, depending on what you want to believe.

Bob didn't particularly care for academics. In other words, he was the smart-ass in the back of the class that always made wise cracks about the teacher. His grades, of course were a frighteningly horrible reflection of that.

Leo J. Crepeau (1913-1983):
He's the guy that bought Bob his first guitar books. An excellent guitar player in his own right. He's pretty much played in almost every state in the U.S.

1985: 3rd Infantry Division West Germany

After Bob's brilliant high school career and the dropping out in his senior year that it entailed, he joined the United States Army. There, he finished his high school education and learned a little bit about his abusive Uncle Sam as well. But that's okay, it wasn't the first uncle he had that was mean to him.

Bob was fortunate enough to be stationed in West Germany during the cold war. He even got to see the wall. In fact, he just missed the wall coming down when he was discharged. He almost had the chance to see history being made. But that's okay too. You see, he also just missed the Gulf War. And, unfortunately, soldiers from the 92nd Chemical Company (His Unit) were among those returning home suffering from the mysterious Gulf War Syndrome.

So, when Bob's wonderful 3 year commitment finally came to an end, he decided not to re-enlist. He wanted to see what abuse civilian employers had to offer.

And boy, did he ever find that out! He then floundered around from one thankless menial job to another. He's worked in factories, retail, a slaughterhouse and other glamorous occupations. At least until he finally went to Dover Business College for the Computer Electronics Technician course. He worked a few thankless computer jobs and has sinced moved on.

Bob tried a few other things like his own magazine (failed), a few different bands (so-so) and then went on to do websites and a so-called solo music career. Which leads us to here.

As You Can See: He took his military training seriously.

Bob started spelling his last name differently (from Crepeau to Craypoe) when he started to do open mics. Basically to avoid mispronunciations of his name. An occasional illiterate still manages to pronounce it wrong but those things happen. Bob views musical talent and ability as a gift from God. Not to be boasted of or used to give glory to one's self by participating in contests or talent shows. You can judge his abilities for yourself when you hear his music.
